Who I Am and Why I Can Help
I guess you could say that making things is in my blood! My parents owned clothing businesses when I was growing up. While the other kids were out having fun, I would spend my school holidays in the sewing room clipping cottons, cutting binding, packing T-shirts and of course sweeping the floor!

At the end of the week, when my little brown pay packet arrived I’d be off to the store to check out the Vogue pattern books and pick some fabric to make my own clothes. I spent most of my spare time sewing the latest fashions, which at that time often included a hat!
I Learned From the Experts!
My Dad was a keen cyclist. Every Saturday afternoon, come rain or shine, Mom would pack us kids off to go watch Dad ride his bike. It was quite a social occasion! The reality was that the women and children had a great old time, sitting around chatting and drinking cups of tea while the men chased each other around the quiet country streets on their racing bikes.
As I got older I got interested in what the ladies were doing while they were chatting and drinking their tea. Each week they brought their latest knitting and crochet projects along and I would bug them to teach me how to do it. I listened and learned and thanks to their kindness and endless patience, I could eventually knit even the most difficult patterns. I never quite mastered the art of crochet but I’m working on it!
Fast Forward 30+ Years
Fast forward a few decades and I still love making things. I’m now in my 40’s, a working mother with four children (including triplets!) of my own. Although spare time is a luxury, I found myself still yearning for a relaxing outlet for my creative talents. I’m long past those ambitious dressmaking and sweater knitting projects, so I got to wondering what could I do…?
